The Blade X at £89.99 instead of £120, the MvG Signature at £52.99 instead of £70, the 50-piece Red Dragon Ultimate set at £13.99 instead of £20: on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 October 2026, Winmau and Red Dragon lined up their three most visible products on Amazon UK, opening the window with an eight-hour Lightning Deal.
Since then the crossed-out prices have gone and the listings are back to their usual rates. That is exactly why these three offers deserve a second look with a clear head: at those levels, what was really worth buying, and for which kind of player? We went back through the specifications of each product to sort it out.

Blade X: the official PDC dartboard
The Blade X is no mid-range board. Launched on 29 January 2026, it made its debut on stage at the Winmau World Masters in Milton Keynes before becoming the official PDC dartboard, Winmau having been the circuit's exclusive supplier since 2022.
The spec sheet explains the positioning: ProCore construction with densified sisal in layers, 60-degree wires and a 60% thinner profile to open up the scoring zones, a deeper sisal bed than on previous models, and above all a five-year guarantee, a first in this market. The number ring turns through 360 degrees without being removed, and the board is fixed with a steel threaded fitting, no drilling required.
At £89.99 it stays at the top of the market: a decent club board normally sits between £50 and £70. The 25% discount does not turn the Blade X into an entry-level bargain; it makes it reachable for a player who uses their board several hours a week. Spread over five years, the gap with a budget model becomes a question of durability rather than of budget. For installation, our guide to hanging a dartboard gives the regulation height and the clearance you need.
The Blade X range on the Winmau website remains the place to check which versions and accessories are available.
MvG Signature Edition: 90% tungsten at £52.99
The second offer, and probably the most interesting for anyone after a proper set: the MvG Signature Edition are 90% tungsten darts with a parallel barrel and a grip of sandblasted round grooves along the full length, rated 3 out of 5 for aggressiveness. Three weights, 22, 23 and 24 grams, 2BA thread, supplied with short Veca shafts and 100-micron shape 2 flights.
At £70 a set like this already belongs in the player's darts bracket. At £52.99 it drops into intermediate territory, while the material and the machining stay the same. Winmau presents the model as the retail version of Michael van Gerwen's set, with the same focus on a natural finger placement on the barrel.
That is where the decision lies, and it has nothing to do with the discount: the weight. A player who throws 22 grams and buys 24 grams because it was the only weight left in stock loses more in consistency than they gain in pounds. To put circuit practice in context, our rundown of the darts used by the Top 32 gives the dominant weights and profiles, and Michael van Gerwen's profile covers his record. The product page for the set details the three weight variants.
Red Dragon Ultimate 50-piece set: the entry point at £13.99
The third offer, and the most affordable: Red Dragon's Ultimate 50-piece set stacks several sets of darts, shafts and flights in a gift-box format. At £20 it already worked as a starter kit; at £13.99 it becomes the cheapest way to equip a home, a teenager's bedroom or an office corner.
You just need to know what you are buying. Darts in this kind of set are brass, thicker than tungsten at the same weight, and the grip rounds off faster. For an occasional player that does not matter. For someone throwing three evenings a week, the same money in a tungsten set will last several seasons, and the consumables can be replaced one by one: that is the whole point of our guide to the maintenance of darts, points, shafts and flights.
The Red Dragon catalogue remains the reference for checking ranges and weights once the set is worn out.
What these three prices say about the equipment market
The sequence is a familiar one. A brand puts its flagship product (the Blade X), its signature set (the MvG) and its entry-level kit (the Ultimate) into the same promotional window, with a Lightning Deal of a few hours to create urgency on one item. The advertised discounts, from 24% to 30%, apply to the recommended retail price, not necessarily to the best price on the market.
That is the limit of the exercise: specialist retailers cut prices all year round, and Amazon's crossed-out figure is not always a reliable benchmark. On a dartboard you also have to add shipping, which quickly weighs on the total given how heavy the board is. On darts, the gap between £52.99 and £70 matters less than the risk of picking the wrong weight.
How to decide before the next window
- Compare the deal price with the current price at two or three specialist retailers, not just with the crossed-out price.
- Settle the weight and the tungsten percentage before you look at the discount.
- On a dartboard, include shipping and check how it is fixed to the wall.
- On an entry-level kit, check what the darts are made of: brass and tungsten are not the same tool.
- Decide before a Lightning Deal opens: the window lasts a few hours, not a week.
The verdict
Three products, three budgets. At £13.99 the Red Dragon set is the cheapest way into the game for a household. At £52.99 the MvG Signature offers the best material-for-money of the three, provided you pick the right weight. At £89.99 the Blade X remains a premium dartboard, backed by its five-year guarantee and its drill-free fitting as much as by its discount.
The prices quoted are those announced for the 6 and 7 October 2026 window, some of them reserved for Prime members. They have moved since: check each listing before ordering.
