Michael van Gerwen

Michael van Gerwen (born 1989, Netherlands) is widely regarded as the greatest darts player of all time. Known as MvG, he has won over 156 PDC titles, including three World Championship titles (2014, 2017, 2019). His dominance from 2013 onward reshaped the sport entirely, combining clinical finishing with an intimidating presence at the oche. Van Gerwen’s record of 9-dart finishes, highest averages, and consecutive major titles is unmatched in the modern era. His thunderous scoring power and cool temperament under pressure have earned him multiple Premier League, Masters, and World Series titles. He remains the benchmark against which every generation of darts player is measured, and his rivalry with Gary Anderson and Peter Wright defined a golden era for the sport.
