The Bahrain Darts Masters will return in January for its fifth edition. The Bahrain International Circuit and the promoter CBX confirmed the news on 23 October: the tournament will take place on 14 and 15 January 2027 at Terminal 4 by Beyon, on the Sakhir circuit site.
The event will not be just another stop on the calendar. It will kick off the 2027 World Series of Darts season and will take place immediately after the 2026/27 World Championship, held at Alexandra Palace in London. For those wishing to attend both events, tickets for the 2026/27 World Championship are already on sale.
Two evenings to kick off the PDC year
The format remains the same as that which made the event such a success: a tournament condensed into two days, with the first evening dedicated to the quarter-finals and the second featuring the semi-finals and final. This fast-paced format, tailored for television, has enabled the Bahrain Darts Masters to establish itself as a permanent fixture on the World Series calendar since its inception in 2023.
The event is organised by the PDC in partnership with the Bahrain International Circuit and CBX, with the support of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA). It is the first major international darts event scheduled to take place in the Kingdom in 2027.
Eight world stars versus eight Asian players
The format pits eight of the world’s best players against eight of Asia’s finest, all of whom have qualified for the event. The final line-up will be announced by the PDC as the tournament approaches, but the standard is expected to be high: the previous four editions were won by Michael Smith, Luke Littler, Stephen Bunting and Michael van Gerwen.
This format gives the local public direct access to the world’s best players, whilst providing a showcase for Asian talent, several of whom regularly compete in professional circuit tournaments and World Championship qualifiers.
Ticket sales: 20 per cent early bird discount
Ticket sales opened at the same time as the announcement, with a 20 per cent early bird discount available for a limited time. Prices start at 16 BD after the discount for a two-day grandstand pass. Premium tables are available from 32 BD for both evenings, and stage-side seats as well as VIP hospitality packages are also available.
Bookings can be made online at bahraingp.com or by telephone on +973-17450 000. The organisers recommend booking early: the early bird discount is not permanent and the best seats, particularly those closest to the stage, traditionally sell out first.
Terminal 4 transformed into the Gulf’s ‘Ally Pally’
Terminal 4 by Beyon will once again be transformed into a performance venue, with the stated aim of making it Bahrain’s answer to Alexandra Palace. Costumes, themed entertainment and catering options round off a setting designed to create the right atmosphere as much as to host the competition.
“The Bahrain Darts Masters has become a must-attend event for the Kingdom,” said Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, Managing Director of the Bahrain International Circuit. “The event has grown every year since its inception, and we want to build on this momentum in 2027.”
Sarah Buheji, Chief Executive of the BTEA, emphasises the event’s impact on tourism, attracting visitors from across the Gulf and beyond. Carlo Boutagy, founder of CBX, points out that the tournament has taken on a whole new dimension since 2023 and that demand for seats closest to the action continues to rise.
What this announcement means
With this date confirmed as early as October, the start of 2027 is taking shape for fans of the circuit: the World Championship concludes in London, then the World Series resumes immediately in Sakhir. For the players, this back-to-back schedule demands non-stop preparation, with a change of time zone and playing conditions in the space of just a few days.
For the French public, there are two benefits: the tournament remains accessible to European travellers in January, and it will serve as an early indicator of form ahead of the World Series tour, which then continues in Europe and Oceania. The exact line-up, match times and session schedule will be confirmed by the PDC in the coming weeks.
