Should you play the same weight as the pros?
No. These figures mostly show that there is no such thing as a “pro” weight: between the lightest and the heaviest darts in the top 32, the gap runs into tens of grams, and each player found his weight to suit his throw. What works for a world champion will not necessarily work for you.
If you are starting out, a medium weight of around 22 to 24 g is a good place to begin: the dart flies steadily without tiring your arm. If your darts tend to land below where you aim, try a little heavier; if you throw hard and they bounce out, a lighter weight may suit you better. The safest approach is to try several weights before buying.
Weight is only one part of a setup: the shape of the barrel, its grip and the length of the shafts also change how the dart feels on release.
