Dirk van Duijvenbode Biography
Dirk van Duijvenbode, born 1 August 1991 in Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands, turned professional in 2015 and quickly established himself as one of the more colourful personalities on the PDC circuit. His nickname “Aubergenius” derives from his pre-professional occupation as an aubergine farmer — a detail that made him immediately recognisable to audiences worldwide.
Van Duijvenbode holds 6 PDC titles and has recorded 2 perfect nine-darters. His biggest televised result came at the European Championship 2020, where he reached the final and pushed Fallon Sherrock’s conqueror Dimitri Van den Bergh to the limit. Multiple ProTour and European Tour victories confirm his consistent quality on the circuit.
He walks on to “Freed From Desire” by Gala, sharing the track with compatriot Danny Noppert. Van Duijvenbode’s game combines heavy scoring with the kind of unconventional shot selection that has made Dutch darts one of the most watchable on the professional circuit in recent years.
