ERIC BRISTOW

Eric Bristow (1955–2018) was one of the most dominant figures in the history of darts. Known as “The Crafty Cockney”, the Londoner won the PDC World Championship five times between 1980 and 1986, cementing his status as a true legend of the sport. He accumulated 16 major titles throughout his career, a remarkable feat that placed him among the all-time greats. Bristow was instrumental in bringing darts to mainstream television audiences during the 1980s, becoming a household name across Britain. His sharp wit, confident demeanour on the oche, and natural flair for the game made him one of the most recognisable sporting personalities of his era. Beyond his playing career, he worked as a television pundit and mentor to younger players. His influence on the modern game is still felt today, as many top professionals cite him as an inspiration. Eric Bristow passed away in April 2018, leaving behind a legacy that will endure in darts history.
