Winmau Goes Digital
Winmau, an official partner of the PDC, ADC, and JDC, officially unveiled Autodarts at IFA Berlin 2026, the world’s largest consumer tech trade show. The launch marks a strategic shift for the Welsh manufacturer, which acquired the startup Autodarts last year to integrate it into the Nodor Group.
The stated ambition is clear: to make darts more accessible by removing barriers to entry. Mental score calculations, the difficulty of finding opponents, the lack of progress tracking… These are all barriers that Winmau aims to break down with a comprehensive ecosystem of software and hardware.
LENS: Auto-scoring via smartphone
The flagship feature of the Winmau Autodarts app is called LENS. The concept: point your smartphone’s camera at any dartboard, and the system automatically detects hits to score in real time. No additional equipment is needed a phone is all you need.
Beyond automatic scoring, LENS offers guidance on which areas to aim for, automated checkouts, and a voice referee that announces scores just like in a competition. Winmau is banking on a video game-inspired experience designed to capture the attention of players under 30 the fastest-growing segment of the player base.
A limited version of LENS is available for free. The unlimited version is accessible via the Plus subscription for £5.99 per month.
A comprehensive app with a built-in community
The Winmau Autodarts app, available on iOS, Android, and web browsers, offers a suite of features that make it much more than just a scorekeeper.
Players can challenge friends, be matched with opponents of similar skill levels from around the world (1v1, up to 6 players, or tournaments throughout the day), or play against an AI bot. The platform already connects more than 200,000 registered users and a Discord community of 40,000 members.
On the statistics front, the app offers real-time tracking during games and a performance history to analyze your progress, identify your strengths, and pinpoint areas for improvement.
Premium features include score calling by the iconic referee Huw Ware the world’s first AI referee capable of reviewing disputed throws as well as customizable digital darts, exclusive tournaments, and private competitions.
The app is available in English, German, and Dutch at launch.
Autodarts X: The Rig for Discerning Players
For players who want to take their game to the next level, Winmau offers the Autodarts X. This rig combines four HD cameras with PinPoint Detection technology and built-in 360° Plasma-class lighting. The result: tournament-level accuracy, advanced training insights, and an immersive gaming experience.
The system attaches to any standard dartboard and stand without drilling. Winmau promises you’ll be ready to play in less than two minutes after unboxing.
The Autodarts X is available for pre-order starting in October 2026, with deliveries scheduled for November. Price: £449.99.
Gian van Veen, Project Ambassador
The launch is supported by Gian van Veen, currently ranked No. 2 in the world on the PDC Order of Merit. This choice underscores Winmau’s commitment to positioning Autodarts for all levels of the sport, from complete beginners to top-level professionals.

What’s Next
Winmau has announced a steady pipeline of new features for late 2026 and throughout 2027: new online and offline game modes, leagues, camera and target streaming, rewards, badges, streaks, and advanced gamification tools. A front-facing camera is also in development.
